June 2nd, 2011
This is just a work in progress and obviously will change as Sydney gets older.
School starts at 10 a.m.
We say a prayer and then we do our “Morning Exercises” which include:
Saying the Pledge of Allegiance
Adding a new number to our calendar
Counting the numbers on the calendar
Singing our days of the week song
Talking about what yesterday was, today is, and what tomorrow will be, and putting it on our chart.
Talking about the season it currently is, and what the weather is, and putting it on our chart.
Reciting our current scripture, and adding more to what we have memorized.
Work on our reading lessons.
And then we work on our Letter of the Week curriculum (or a preschool pack, depending on if it’s a Holiday week, or a fun theme week [once we finish the letters.])
On Tuesday we have preschool co-op in the morning, so school usually starts later.
On Wednesday we have dance class in the early afternoon, so school sometimes starts earlier or later depending on how we are doing that day.
On Friday we have an added lesson on counting, we also go over scriptures of the past and make sure we still have them memorized.
Then we end school with book reading, I have a book list that goes with our Letter of the Week, for each day. We read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom on Fridays
As for Audrey? Well, she does puzzles, draws pictures and eats Cheerios while all this is taking place, and she joins us for reading time. Or she destroys things.
